Have you seen Sheldon's Pillow?

When we were leaving to head back to Oregon we couldn't find Sheldon's pillow. It has an off-white pillow case and the pillow is Serta and is a feather or "down" pillow. Did any of you accidentally take it?? Sheldon misses his pillow. Do you have it?

To Lance, Heidi and Sheldon
I am very proud of you for honoring your father the way you did at the time of his death and his funeral. The funeral was beautiful and well done. I am sure he is very proud of you also. I never wanted you to hate your father, I wanted you to know him for the great man that he was to you. Thank you for allowing us to be there with you and I hope we did not cause any problems for anyone. Mona told me that your father was impossible to live with and she knew what I went through. She talked to me a little about her time with him. She is a very nice person and I am glad that I met her .

Thanksgiving

Hi Everyone! Sheldon and I are getting excited for Thanksgiving!! I was just wondering if there are any requests for the Thanksgiving meal??? Sheldon and I are planning on going shopping next weekend and need to know if there is anything you would really like to eat for Thanksgiving that we didn't already list:

turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, funeral potatoes, rolls, gravy, cranberry sauce, corn, & stuffing
pies & vanilla ice cream/whipped cream-pumpkin, cherry, apple, oreo, banana cream

Can everyone bring their own bath towel and bedding? We definitely don't have enough for everyone.

Sheldon is having his acl surgery this upcoming Thursday morning. I am taking Thursday and Friday off to take care of him and then Saturday I was planning on doing the Thanksgiving shopping. I don't know if Sheldon will be up for it even though he says he will-maybe we can get him a wheelchair in the store or one of those electric chairs.

But just let me know if there is anything you want that isn't already on the menu.

Loves,

Julie

Hi Everyone
We have diconnected our phone with UBET and have gone with Vonage. UBET will not let us use our Vernal phone number, so here is our new number 435-503-8494. We are having problems with the Vonage box and are getting another one on Thursday. Until then we have our cell phones. See everyone for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving

Hi everyone
SO here is what is going on with Ben's family. Becca is having her baby tomorrow and she is planning on blessing her the Sunday after Thanksgiving. All of Ben's family is going to Portland for Thanksgiving. I thought it would be a good idea for all of us to have dinner together, but Becca's oldest son has a disorder where he can't be around big crowds or he freaks out and it gets really bad. Becca just wants to have all of Ben's family at her house for dinner and then our family will just be at Sheldon and Julie's. She just thinks that will be easier so that works for us, me and Ben will be at Sheldon and Julie's for dinner so we don't have to worry about having 30 people in the same house. Becca would like to get together sometime and have a game night or something so I'll have to find out more information about that. Sorry for the confusion on everything. We miss all of you so much and can't wait to see you. Love you all
Holly and Ben.

Thanksgiving Update

Hi everyone! I was just trying to think of a way we could all communicate about Thanksgiving and I thought the blog would be perfect. Holly just told me that Ben's family will be joining us for Thanksgiving dinner here in Oregon. Sounds fun! Just a heads up-our house will probably be crowded because our living room is probably a little smaller than Heidi's. We are going to try to get some tables and chairs from the church.

Can everyone bring their own bath towel and blankets? We have one air mattress and one twin bed. I was thinking that Lance and Des could have their own room with their family and Jared and Heidi could have a room for their family. One room has a twin bed. We are going to move some of the furniture out so that each family could fit in their room. I was thinking that Paul and Carol could sleep in our living room-I know they have an air mattress that they could bring. Mathew could also sleep in the hallway or our laundry room or even on the roof-just kidding. But it would be good if we could get a twin size air mattress or some sort of bedding for him that would fit in our laundry room or hallway perfectly. Does anyone have one? Heidi said she has portable crib for Sidney and two kids could sleep in the twin bed we have.

As far as the meal goes could everyone say what they would like to have at Thanksgiving dinner and I could make up a list of what we want to eat and then we could divide up the responsibilities for making the food. Sheldon and I can go shopping beforehand to get all the food. Ben's family will also be bringing stuff for the meal.

Here's what Sheldon and I were planning on for the meal so let me know if there is something that you want to have that is not on this list:

turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, funeral potatoes, rolls, gravy, cranberry sauce, corn, & stuffing

pies & vanilla ice cream-pumpkin, cherry, apple, oreo, banana cream

Sheldon said he can get the SUV limo on Thanksgiving day and we could go out for a ride in it. I think that sounds fun!

Holly

I did like reading Breaking Dawn. I thought it was really fun to read with lots of interesting twists that I really wasn't expecting the whole baby thing and the weird thing with Jacob and who he imprints on (I won't say because I don't know if you read that already).

I changed the background for this blog and anyone feel free to add/change things and post.

Julie

I haven't finished Breaking Dawn yet. With the move and everything its been crazy and tomorrow is mine and Ben's 1 year aniversery. I'm at the part where she has been drinking the blood and its making her feel better then she broke her rib. So far I like it I'm wondering whats going to happen with the whole baby thing, but as soon as I finish it I'll let you know what I think. Did you like it?

Julie here are your Moon Lake pictures from August 2006. I wasn't sure how to make this into a slide show for the sake of space, so your welcome to delete it once you get what you need.

Hi from the Smith's with an amazing Creamy Orange cake

Hi everyone, thank you for all your help and support this past weekend, we couldn't have done it with out you. We are glad that we could spend time with the family and especially Sheldon and Julie since we don't get to see you very often. Hagen remembers you as well, he can pick you out of pictures and say your names. Especially Sheldon, so you must have made an impression on him that will hopefully last until we see you in November. Julie asked for this recipe, so here it is:
Creamy Orange Cake
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 box (4 serving size) orange flavored gelatin
  • 1 box yellow cake mix and ing. specified on back of box (eggs, water, & oil)
  • 3/4 cup frozen (thawed) orange juice concentrate
  • 12 oz container whipped vanilla frosting
  • 8 oz container frozen whipped topping

Heat oven to 350'. In small bowl mix water and gelatin until dissolved and cool slightly for about five minutes. Beat cake mix, ingredients specified on back of box, 1/4 cup gelatin mixture, & 1/4 cup orange juice concentrate. Bake cake for 30-35 minutes. When cake is done, poke cake with a fork (about every inch). Set aside 1 tablespoon of gelatin mixture for frosting. Mix together remaining gelatin mixture and 1/2 cup orange juice concentrate. Poor mixture over cake slowly. Cool cake completely then combine frosting and whipped topping and frost the cake. Heat the 1 tablespoon of gelatin mixture for 10 seconds to liquify. Place small drops of gelatin over frosting and use a toothpick or spoon to swirl gelatin into the frosting.

Using this same recipe you can make a raspberry lemonade cake that is also amazing by using frozen lemonade concentrate instead of orange juice concentrate and raspberry gelatin instead of orange gelatin.

Thanks Holly for posting! I was wondering if anyone had pictures from the camping trip we took last year to Moon Lake? I am working on my scrapbook and I was hoping someone took pictures. Lance and Des can you give me pictures from our St. George trip to Zion's and Tauchan?

Also, about the blog. Everyone feel free to change/add/delete to any part of this blog since we all have the username and password. I just made it up real quick so feel free to change anything!

Pictures of the Family

Thanks to Lance for playing with my camera today. I got some great photos of the family, or should I say the SOSC Clan (Sylvester Olsen Smith Cameron Clan)
I throw some other ones in there cause not everyone got caught in Lance's trail.
The day before Syndee was born Jared, Heidi, Kaleigh, Haegan, Ben, and I went out for
lunch at this hot dog stand and I got some pictures of the kids playing. Hope you all
like them. Love you all.

Yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Posted by Sheldon & Julie

We started this blog so that our family could stay connected. That is why I called the blog For Connecting the Dots. I thought to start off the blog I would share my favorite recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together & add 2 eggs

Then add
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 cups flour

1 bag chocolate chips

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes
Makes 3 dozen

We love this recipe and make these cookies all the time.
