Moon Lake Pictures

Julie here are your Moon Lake pictures from August 2006. I wasn't sure how to make this into a slide show for the sake of space, so your welcome to delete it once you get what you need.

Hi from the Smith's with an amazing Creamy Orange cake

Hi everyone, thank you for all your help and support this past weekend, we couldn't have done it with out you. We are glad that we could spend time with the family and especially Sheldon and Julie since we don't get to see you very often. Hagen remembers you as well, he can pick you out of pictures and say your names. Especially Sheldon, so you must have made an impression on him that will hopefully last until we see you in November. Julie asked for this recipe, so here it is:
Creamy Orange Cake
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 box (4 serving size) orange flavored gelatin
  • 1 box yellow cake mix and ing. specified on back of box (eggs, water, & oil)
  • 3/4 cup frozen (thawed) orange juice concentrate
  • 12 oz container whipped vanilla frosting
  • 8 oz container frozen whipped topping

Heat oven to 350'. In small bowl mix water and gelatin until dissolved and cool slightly for about five minutes. Beat cake mix, ingredients specified on back of box, 1/4 cup gelatin mixture, & 1/4 cup orange juice concentrate. Bake cake for 30-35 minutes. When cake is done, poke cake with a fork (about every inch). Set aside 1 tablespoon of gelatin mixture for frosting. Mix together remaining gelatin mixture and 1/2 cup orange juice concentrate. Poor mixture over cake slowly. Cool cake completely then combine frosting and whipped topping and frost the cake. Heat the 1 tablespoon of gelatin mixture for 10 seconds to liquify. Place small drops of gelatin over frosting and use a toothpick or spoon to swirl gelatin into the frosting.

Using this same recipe you can make a raspberry lemonade cake that is also amazing by using frozen lemonade concentrate instead of orange juice concentrate and raspberry gelatin instead of orange gelatin.

Written by Julie

Thanks Holly for posting! I was wondering if anyone had pictures from the camping trip we took last year to Moon Lake? I am working on my scrapbook and I was hoping someone took pictures. Lance and Des can you give me pictures from our St. George trip to Zion's and Tauchan?

Also, about the blog. Everyone feel free to change/add/delete to any part of this blog since we all have the username and password. I just made it up real quick so feel free to change anything!

I was also thinking I wanted to add another recipe.

Pictures of the Family

Thanks to Lance for playing with my camera today. I got some great photos of the family, or should I say the SOSC Clan (Sylvester Olsen Smith Cameron Clan)
I throw some other ones in there cause not everyone got caught in Lance's trail.
The day before Syndee was born Jared, Heidi, Kaleigh, Haegan, Ben, and I went out for
lunch at this hot dog stand and I got some pictures of the kids playing. Hope you all
like them. Love you all.

Yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Posted by Sheldon & Julie

We started this blog so that our family could stay connected. That is why I called the blog For Connecting the Dots. I thought to start off the blog I would share my favorite recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together & add 2 eggs

Then add
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 cups flour

1 bag chocolate chips

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes
Makes 3 dozen

We love this recipe and make these cookies all the time.
